Treatment of seizure disorders (epilepsy) including absence, myoclonic and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome; management of panic disorder/anxiety (as prescribed).

Clonazepam is a benzodiazepine that enhances the effect of GABA, an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain. This calms excessive neuronal activity, helping control seizures and reduce anxiety/panic symptoms.

Take orally exactly as prescribed by the doctor, with or without food (preferably at the same time daily). Swallow with water; do not stop suddenly or change dose without medical advice as withdrawal and seizure risk may increase.

Prescription-only; may cause sedation and impair driving/operating machinery. Risk of dependence, tolerance and withdrawal—do not stop abruptly. Use with caution in elderly, liver disease, kidney impairment, respiratory disease/sleep apnea, depression or history of substance abuse. May worsen depression or cause suicidal thoughts—seek help if mood changes. Avoid use with other CNS depressants unless advised. Not recommended in acute narrow-angle glaucoma.

Alcohol and other CNS depressants (opioids, sedatives, antihistamines) increase sedation/respiratory depression; opioids may be fatal. Antiepileptics (phenytoin, carbamazepine, phenobarbital) may alter levels/effects. CYP3A inhibitors (ketoconazole, itraconazole, some macrolides) may increase clonazepam effects; CYP inducers (rifampicin) may reduce effect. Valproate may increase sedation; clozapine may increase risk of respiratory depression.

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
