Deflazacort 6 mg

Treatment of inflammatory and autoimmune conditions such as asthma and allergies, rheumatoid/other arthritis, skin disorders, nephrotic syndrome, and other conditions where corticosteroids are prescribed.

Deflazacort is a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation and suppresses immune overactivity. It decreases the release of inflammatory mediators and reduces swelling, redness, pain, and allergic symptoms.

Tablet. Take exactly as prescribed by the doctor, preferably with food or after meals to reduce stomach upset. Take at the same time each day; do not stop suddenly—dose should be tapered as advised.

Prescription medicine. Long-term use may cause adrenal suppression, osteoporosis, cataract/glaucoma, muscle weakness, and increased infection risk. Use with caution in diabetes, hypertension, peptic ulcer disease, liver/kidney impairment, glaucoma, osteoporosis, and psychiatric illness. Avoid exposure to chickenpox/measles; seek medical help if exposed. Do not discontinue abruptly. Vaccines: avoid live vaccines during high-dose/long-term therapy.

CYP3A4 inducers (rifampicin, phenytoin, carbamazepine) may reduce effect; CYP3A4 inhibitors (ketoconazole, itraconazole, ritonavir/cobicistat) may increase side effects; NSAIDs increase GI ulcer/bleeding risk; antidiabetics/insulin may need dose adjustment; warfarin/anticoagulants (INR changes); diuretics/amphotericin B (hypokalemia); vaccines (reduced response; avoid live vaccines).

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children.
