Inflammatory and autoimmune conditions requiring corticosteroid therapy such as asthma and allergic disorders, rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory joint disorders, skin inflammation, lupus and other autoimmune diseases; also used in some neuromuscular disorders (e.g., Duchenne muscular dystrophy) as prescribed.

Deflazacort is a glucocorticoid (corticosteroid) that suppresses inflammation and modulates immune responses. It reduces the release of inflammatory mediators and decreases swelling, redness, and allergic symptoms.

Take orally exactly as prescribed by the doctor, preferably at the same time each day. Usually taken with food or milk to reduce stomach upset. Do not stop suddenly; tapering may be required after prolonged use.

Prescription-only steroid. Long-term use can cause adrenal suppression, osteoporosis, cataract/glaucoma, muscle weakness, and growth retardation in children. May increase blood sugar—monitor in diabetes. Avoid exposure to infections (e.g., chickenpox/measles); seek medical advice if exposed. Do not use live vaccines during high-dose/prolonged therapy. Use caution in hypertension, peptic ulcer disease, glaucoma, tuberculosis, liver/kidney impairment, and psychiatric illness. Taper dose if used for more than a short course.

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
