Erythrocin 250 Tablet

Erythrocin 250 Tablet contains Erythromycin 250 mg. Prescription required.

Bacterial infections of respiratory tract, throat, skin and soft tissue; acne (as prescribed); diphtheria/pertussis (as per guidelines); used when penicillin is unsuitable

Erythromycin is a macrolide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. This stops bacterial growth and helps clear susceptible infections.

Take exactly as prescribed and complete the full course. Usually taken 2–4 times daily; best taken on an empty stomach unless it upsets the stomach. Maintain consistent timing and do not skip doses.

Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, loss of appetite, metallic taste

Do not use for viral infections. Seek care for severe diarrhea (possible C. difficile), jaundice, or allergic reaction. Use caution in liver disease and in patients with heart rhythm problems (QT prolongation).

Warfarin (increased bleeding risk), theophylline, carbamazepine, digoxin, cyclosporine, statins (simvastatin/lovastatin), antiarrhythmics that prolong QT, ergot derivatives (contraindicated)

Store below 25°C, protected from moisture and light. Keep in original pack.
