Eradication of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection associated with duodenal/gastric ulcers, treatment of peptic ulcer disease with H. pylori, prevention of ulcer recurrence after H. pylori eradication

Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that reduces stomach acid to promote ulcer healing and improve antibiotic effectiveness. Amoxicillin and clarithromycin are antibiotics that kill H. pylori by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis and protein synthesis respectively, helping eradicate the infection.

Take exactly as prescribed (usually twice daily regimen). Typically taken before meals: take esomeprazole 30–60 minutes before food, and take the antibiotics as directed (often together after food to reduce stomach upset). Complete the full course even if you feel better; do not skip doses.

Prescription-only regimen. Do not use if allergic to esomeprazole/other PPIs, penicillins/cephalosporins (amoxicillin), or macrolides (clarithromycin). Clarithromycin can prolong QT interval—use caution in heart rhythm disorders, low potassium/magnesium, or with QT-prolonging drugs. Use caution in liver disease (especially for clarithromycin) and severe kidney disease (dose adjustments may be needed). Long-term/repeated PPI use may increase risk of low magnesium, vitamin B12 deficiency and fractures; report severe diarrhoea (possible C. difficile). Stop and seek care for severe rash, facial swelling, breathing difficulty, or jaundice.

Warfarin/other anticoagulants (INR changes),statins (simvastatin/lovastatin—avoid with clarithromycin),digoxin,carbamazepine,phenytoin,theophylline,benzodiazepines (e.g., midazolam),colchicine,ergot alkaloids,cisapride/pimozide (contraindicated with clarithromycin),QT-prolonging medicines (e.g., amiodarone,sotalol),clopidogrel (reduced effect with some PPIs),methotrexate (high-dose),oral contraceptives (antibiotics may reduce reliability in some cases)

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from moisture and light. Keep in original pack. Keep out of reach of children.
