Bacterial eye infections such as bacterial conjunctivitis, blepharitis, keratitis (as prescribed)
Gatifloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. It inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, stopping bacterial DNA replication and leading to bacterial death.
For ophthalmic use only. Instill the prescribed number of drops into the affected eye(s) at recommended intervals. Wash hands before use; avoid touching dropper tip; remove contact lenses unless advised; keep eyes closed for 1-2 minutes after instillation.
Eye irritation, burning/stinging, redness, watering, blurred vision, itching, foreign body sensation, bitter taste
Do not use in viral or fungal eye infections. Stop and seek medical help if severe allergy (swelling, rash) occurs. Use with caution in contact lens wearers; avoid lenses during active infection. Temporary blurred vision may occur—avoid driving until clear.
No major systemic interactions expected with topical ocular use; avoid using other eye medicines simultaneously without a gap of 5-10 minutes; do not mix with other drops in the same administration.
