Tablet
Type 2 diabetes mellitus: to improve glycaemic control as an adjunct to diet and exercise, alone or with other antidiabetic medicines as prescribed.
Teneligliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor that increases levels of incretin hormones (GLP-1 and GIP). This enhances glucose-dependent insulin secretion and reduces glucagon release, lowering blood glucose with a low risk of hypoglycaemia when used alone.
Oral tablet. Common adult dose is 20 mg once daily, with or without food, at the same time each day. Dose and add-on therapy should be as advised by a doctor; do not stop abruptly.
Headache, dizziness, constipation, nausea, upper respiratory tract infection, nasopharyngitis, hypoglycaemia (especially with insulin/sulfonylureas), skin rash
Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Risk of hypoglycaemia increases when combined with insulin or sulfonylureas (dose adjustment may be needed). Use with caution in renal or hepatic impairment; monitor blood glucose and kidney/liver function as advised. Rare but serious: pancreatitis, severe allergic reactions/angioedema, severe skin reactions; seek urgent care for severe abdominal pain, facial swelling, breathing difficulty, or widespread rash. Inform doctor if you have heart disease or are on multiple antidiabetics.
Insulin and sulfonylureas (increased hypoglycaemia risk), other antidiabetic drugs, strong CYP3A4/P-gp modulators (may alter teneligliptin levels), alcohol (may worsen glycaemic control)
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
