Decreases hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity; acts in liver and gut.
Take as directed by the physician, with or after meals. Do not crush or chew the tablet. Drink plenty of fluids while taking this medication.
GI upset (nausea, diarrhea); rare risk of lactic acidosis.
Inform clinician about kidney problems; withhold around iodinated contrast when advised.
