Monograph
Gramogyl Tab * contains Metronidazole (100mg/5ml) + Norfloxacin (100mg/5ml) and is used for this medicine is used. Prescription required.
This medicine is used in the treatment of bacterial infection, gut infection, skin infection, dental infection, urinary infection and chest infection.
This medicine combines 2 active ingredients: Metronidazole and Norfloxacin. Metronidazole kills or stops the growth of the bacteria causing your infection. Norfloxacin kills the bacteria causing your infection by blocking the enzymes they use to copy their DNA.
Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not chew, crush or break it unless your doctor has told you to. Take it with or just after food. Taking it at about the same time each day helps you remember. Follow the dose and the duration written on your prescription.
Nausea, Metallic taste, Loose motions, Stomach pain, Headache, Dizziness, Sleep disturbance
Finish the whole course even after you feel better. Do not drink any alcohol while taking metronidazole, ornidazole or tinidazole, or for the period after the course that your doctor states — the combination causes severe flushing, vomiting and a racing heart. Report severe or watery loose motions during or after the course rather than treating them yourself. Tetracyclines stain developing teeth and are avoided in young children and in pregnancy. Antibiotics do not work against colds, flu or most sore throats, which are caused by viruses. Stop and contact your doctor at once if you develop pain, swelling or tenderness in a tendon — the Achilles tendon at the back of the ankle in particular. This group can damage tendons, and the risk is higher in older people and with steroids. Report any new numbness, tingling or burning in the hands or feet promptly. Tell your doctor about any change in mood, confusion or agitation. Avoid strong sunlight and use sun protection — this group makes the skin burn more easily. Finish the whole course; this group is heavily associated with antibiotic resistance and should be used only when prescribed.
Antacids, iron, zinc and calcium reduce the absorption of tetracyclines — separate them by a couple of hours. Tell your doctor if you take a blood thinner. Antacids, iron, zinc, calcium and milk markedly reduce absorption — separate them by at least two hours. Tell your doctor if you take steroids, a blood thinner or a medicine for heart rhythm.
