Hetrazan Tablet is a prescription medicine containing Diethylcarbamazine (100mg). It is used for worm infections Filariasis. It belongs to the group of medicines called Anthelmintic / antiprotozoal.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. The dose and how long you take it depend on what you are being treated for and how you respond. Do not take more, or for longer, than your doctor has advised.
The side effects seen most often with Hetrazan Tablet are nausea, stomach pain, loose motions and headache. Most are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. Tell your doctor if one persists or worries you.
Before you start, tell your doctor about any liver, kidney or heart problem, whether you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, and every other medicine you take, including supplements and ayurvedic preparations. Some of them can change how Hetrazan Tablet works.
Treatment of Worm infections Filariasis
Most side effects of Hetrazan are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:
Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Hetrazan 100 Tablet should be taken with or after food.
Hetrazan 100 Tablet belongs to a class of medications called anthelmintics. It kills the parasitic worms that cause parasitic worm infections as well as Filariasis. This helps to treat your infection.
Treat the whole household at the same time for worm infestations, or reinfection is likely. Wash hands thoroughly after using the toilet and before eating, keep nails short, and wash bedding and underclothes in hot water. Do not drink alcohol with metronidazole, ornidazole, tinidazole or secnidazole. A repeat dose after a couple of weeks is often advised for worms — follow your doctor's instruction.
If you miss a dose of Hetrazan 100 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
An overdose of this medicine can cause vomiting, abdominal cramps and nerve symptoms. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.
Tell your doctor if you take anti-epileptic medicines or a blood thinner.
Store below 30°C in the original pack, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
