Atpark 50 mg Tablet is a prescription medicine containing Atenolol (50mg). It is used for hypertension (high blood pressure), angina pectoris (chest pain) and and control of heart rate in certain tachyarrhythmias. It belongs to the group of medicines called Beta-blocker (beta-1 selective).
Take by mouth exactly as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day. The dose and how long you take it depend on what you are being treated for and how you respond. Do not take more, or for longer, than your doctor has advised.
The side effects seen most often with Atpark 50 mg Tablet are dizziness, fatigue, slow heart rate (bradycardia) and cold hands/feet. Most are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. Tell your doctor if one persists or worries you.
Before you start, tell your doctor about any liver, kidney or heart problem, whether you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, and every other medicine you take, including supplements and ayurvedic preparations. Some of them can change how Atpark 50 mg Tablet works.
Most side effects of Atpark are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:
Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
Take by mouth exactly as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day. Can be taken with or without food; swallow with water. Do not stop suddenly without medical advice.
Atenolol is a cardioselective beta-1 adrenergic blocker. It reduces heart rate, force of contraction, and cardiac output, thereby lowering blood pressure and decreasing oxygen demand of the heart.
Use with caution in asthma/COPD (may worsen bronchospasm), diabetes (may mask hypoglycaemia symptoms), thyroid disorders, peripheral vascular disease, and in patients with slow pulse/heart block or heart failure unless advised. Do not abruptly discontinue (risk of rebound hypertension/angina). Monitor blood pressure and pulse. Dose adjustment may be needed in kidney impairment.
If you miss a dose of Atpark 50 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
An overdose of this medicine can cause a dangerously slow heartbeat, a severe fall in blood pressure, wheezing and fits. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.
Other antihypertensives (additive hypotension), calcium channel blockers like verapamil/diltiazem (risk of bradycardia/heart block), digoxin (bradycardia), antiarrhythmics like amiodarone (conduction effects), NSAIDs (may reduce antihypertensive effect), clonidine (rebound hypertension on withdrawal), insulin/oral antidiabetics (masks hypoglycaemia), alcohol (increases dizziness)
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
