Huminsulin 50/50 40 IU/ml Injection is a prescription medicine containing Human insulin + Insulin isophane. It is used for type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes. It belongs to the group of medicines called Insulin.
This is given by a doctor or a nurse. The dose and how long you take it depend on what you are being treated for and how you respond. Do not take more, or for longer, than your doctor has advised.
The side effects seen most often with Huminsulin 50/50 40 IU/ml Injection are low blood sugar, weight gain, pain and redness or lumps at the injection site. Most are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. Tell your doctor if one persists or worries you.
Before you start, tell your doctor about any liver, kidney or heart problem, whether you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, and every other medicine you take, including supplements and ayurvedic preparations. Some of them can change how Huminsulin 50/50 40 IU/ml Injection works.
Most side effects of Huminsulin 50/50 are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:
Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
This is given by a doctor or a nurse. Do not attempt to inject it yourself unless you have been trained and told to. Follow the dose and the duration written on your prescription.
This medicine combines 2 active ingredients: Human Insulin and Insulin Isophane. Human Insulin replaces or supplements the insulin your body cannot make enough of, moving sugar out of the blood and into your cells. Insulin Isophane replaces or supplements the insulin your body cannot make enough of, moving sugar out of the blood and into your cells.
If you feel shaky, sweaty, confused or unusually hungry, take sugar, glucose or a sweet drink at once and tell your doctor — these are signs your blood sugar has fallen too low. Never change your insulin brand, strength or type on your own — always through your doctor. Rotate the injection site each time, or fatty lumps will form and the insulin will be absorbed unpredictably. Do not use insulin that has changed colour, gone cloudy when it should be clear, or has clumps in it. Never share a pen or needle, even with a family member.
Contact your doctor or diabetes nurse for advice — do not take a double dose to make up for a missed injection.
An overdose of this medicine can cause severe low blood sugar, leading to fits or unconsciousness — this is a medical emergency. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.
Keep unopened insulin in the refrigerator between 2°C and 8°C — never in the freezer, and never against the ice box. The pen or vial in use may be kept below 30°C, away from direct sunlight, for the period stated on the pack. Keep out of the reach of children.
