Monograph
Gel
Topical gel for local relief of musculoskeletal pain and inflammation such as sprain/strain, sports injury, back/neck pain, joint pain and mild arthritis-related pain.
Pain-relief gels typically reduce local inflammation and pain at the site of application. Depending on actives, they may inhibit inflammatory mediators (e.g., prostaglandins) and/or provide a counter-irritant cooling/warming effect to relieve soreness.
For external use only. Apply a thin layer to the affected area and gently massage until absorbed 2–4 times daily or as directed by a doctor. Wash hands after use; avoid application on broken/irritated skin and avoid contact with eyes/mouth.
Application site irritation, redness, burning/stinging, itching, rash, dryness
Do not use on open wounds, infected or eczematous skin. Stop use and consult a doctor if severe irritation, rash, or allergy occurs. Avoid tight bandaging or heat (hot water bottles/heating pads) over the treated area unless advised. Use with caution in children, elderly, or if you have known allergy to topical pain-relief ingredients. If pregnant/breastfeeding, or if pain persists beyond 7–10 days, consult a doctor.
If the gel contains topical NSAIDs (e.g., diclofenac), use caution with other NSAIDs/aspirin and anticoagulants (warfarin) due to additive side effects (systemic absorption is usually low). Avoid using multiple topical medicated products on the same area unless advised.
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Keep container tightly closed. Protect from heat and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
