Kenz Sal Lotion

Kenz Sal Lotion contains Ketoconazole (2%w/v) + Salicylic Acid (2%w/v). Prescription required.

Kenz-Sal Lotion is used in the treatment of dandruff.

Kenz-Sal Lotion is a combination of two medicines: Ketoconazole and Salicylic Acid which treat dandruff. Ketoconazole is an antifungal. It works by stopping the growth of dandruff-causing fungi by preventing them from forming their own protective covering. Salicylic Acid is a keratolytic medicine which helps break down the skin clumps on scalp and relieves itching and flaking associated with dandruff.

This medicine is for external use only. Use this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Shake it well and apply to the area evenly.

Application site reactions (burning, irritation, itching and redness)

Keep applying for the full period your doctor stated, usually two to four weeks, and for a week or two after the rash has cleared. Stopping when it looks better is why ringworm keeps coming back. Apply a little beyond the visible edge of the patch — the fungus extends further than the redness. Do not use a combination cream containing a steroid on a fungal infection unless a doctor has specifically prescribed it. The steroid calms the redness while the fungus spreads underneath. See a doctor if the rash covers a large area, involves the scalp or nails, or has not improved in two weeks — these usually need tablets as well. Acne often looks worse for the first two to four weeks before it improves. This is expected — do not stop. Use sunscreen every day. These medicines make the skin burn much more easily. Oral isotretinoin must never be taken in pregnancy — it causes severe birth defects. Reliable contraception and the pregnancy tests your dermatologist requires are essential before, during and after the course. Start with alternate nights and build up, and do not use more than a pea-sized amount for the whole face. Do not combine several strong acne actives at once without advice — the irritation compounds.

No significant interactions are expected from preparations used on the skin. Do not combine with other peeling agents or with waxing and harsh scrubs. Oral retinoids must not be combined with tetracycline antibiotics.

Store below 30°C, away from direct sunlight. Close the cap tightly after each use. Keep out of the reach of children.
