Bacterial infections such as respiratory tract infections (sinusitis, tonsillitis, otitis media, bronchitis, pneumonia), urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, dental infections, and some bone/joint infections caused by susceptible organisms.

Amoxicillin is a penicillin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial death. Clavulanic acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that protects amoxicillin from breakdown by beta-lactamase–producing bacteria, expanding its spectrum.

Tablet; take exactly as prescribed. Commonly taken at the start of a meal to improve absorption and reduce stomach upset. Swallow with water; complete the full course even if you feel better.

Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, indigestion, skin rash, headache, oral/vaginal thrush

Use only for bacterial infections. Avoid if allergic to penicillins/cephalosporins or history of severe hypersensitivity. Use with caution in liver disease; may rarely cause hepatitis/cholestatic jaundice—seek help if jaundice or dark urine occurs. Dose adjustment may be needed in kidney impairment. May cause antibiotic-associated diarrhea/C. difficile—seek care for severe/persistent diarrhea. Not for infectious mononucleosis (higher risk of rash).

Warfarin/other anticoagulants (may increase INR/bleeding risk), methotrexate (increased toxicity), probenecid (increases amoxicillin levels), allopurinol (increased rash risk), mycophenolate mofetil (reduced active metabolite exposure), oral typhoid vaccine (reduced effect)

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children.
