Treatment of inflammatory and itchy skin conditions responsive to corticosteroids with scaling/thickened skin, such as psoriasis, eczema/dermatitis with hyperkeratosis
Mometasone is a topical corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, redness and itching by suppressing local immune and inflammatory mediators. Salicylic acid is a keratolytic that softens and removes scales by breaking down keratin, improving penetration of mometasone into thickened skin.
For external use only. Apply a thin layer to the affected area once daily or as directed by a doctor; rub in gently. Preferably apply on clean, dry skin; avoid occlusive dressings unless advised. Do not use on face, groin, armpits or broken/infected skin unless prescribed; wash hands after use.
Burning/stinging, itching, irritation, dryness, redness, peeling, skin thinning (atrophy), stretch marks, acneiform eruptions, hypopigmentation, secondary infection
Use only for the prescribed duration; prolonged/large-area use can cause systemic corticosteroid effects (adrenal suppression), especially in children. Avoid use on face and near eyes (risk of glaucoma/cataract) and avoid mucous membranes. Not recommended for untreated bacterial/fungal/viral skin infections; treat infection first if present. Stop and consult a doctor if severe irritation, worsening, or no improvement within 1–2 weeks. Caution in children and in pregnancy/lactation; use the smallest amount for the shortest time.
Other topical corticosteroids/keratolytics (increased irritation), occlusive dressings (increased absorption and side effects), concomitant topical retinoids/benzoyl peroxide (may increase dryness/irritation)
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from direct light and moisture. Keep the cap tightly closed and out of reach of children.
