Movapentin 300 Tablet contains Gabapentin 300 mg and is used for neuropathic (nerve) pain. Prescription required.
Movapentin 300 Tablet is a prescription medicine containing Gabapentin 300 mg. It is used for neuropathic (nerve) pain (e.g., diabetic neuropathy, post-herpetic neuralgia) and other nerve pain conditions as prescribed. It belongs to the group of medicines called Gabapentinoid (antiepileptic).
Tablet/capsule for oral use: take exactly as prescribed, usually 1. The dose and how long you take it depend on what you are being treated for and how you respond. Do not take more, or for longer, than your doctor has advised.
The side effects seen most often with Movapentin 300 Tablet are dizziness, drowsiness/somnolence, fatigue and ataxia (unsteady gait). Most are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. Tell your doctor if one persists or worries you.
Before you start, tell your doctor about any liver, kidney or heart problem, whether you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, and every other medicine you take, including supplements and ayurvedic preparations. Some of them can change how Movapentin 300 Tablet works.
Most side effects of Movapentin are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:
Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
Tablet/capsule for oral use: take exactly as prescribed, usually 1–3 times daily. Can be taken with or without food; take at the same times each day. Swallow with water; do not stop suddenly—taper as advised. If used with antacids, keep a gap of at least 2 hours.
Gabapentin is an anticonvulsant/neuropathic pain agent that binds to the alpha-2-delta subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels in the CNS. This reduces release of excitatory neurotransmitters, lowering abnormal nerve signaling and thereby decreasing neuropathic pain and seizure activity.
May cause sleepiness, dizziness and impaired coordination—avoid driving/operating machinery until you know the effect. Do not stop abruptly (risk of withdrawal symptoms/seizure worsening); taper gradually. Use caution in kidney disease—dose adjustment may be needed. Monitor for mood/behavior changes or suicidal thoughts. Use with caution with other CNS depressants (opioids, sedatives) due to risk of excessive sedation and respiratory depression. Allergic reactions (rash, swelling, breathing trouble) require urgent care.
Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.
An overdose of this medicine can cause deep drowsiness, confusion, unsteadiness and slowed breathing, especially with an opioid or alcohol. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.
Opioids (e.g., morphine) and other CNS depressants (benzodiazepines, alcohol, sedating antihistamines) may increase sedation/respiratory depression; Antacids containing aluminum/magnesium reduce absorption (separate by 2 hours)
