Bacterial eye infections such as bacterial conjunctivitis; treatment of susceptible bacterial infections of the external eye as prescribed by an ophthalmologist
Moxifloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. This blocks bacterial DNA replication and repair, leading to bacterial cell death and resolution of infection.
For ophthalmic use only. Instill the prescribed number of drops into the affected eye(s) as directed by the doctor, usually 2–3 times daily. Wash hands before use, avoid touching the dropper tip, and remove contact lenses before use (reinsert only if advised).
Eye irritation,burning/stinging,redness,watery eyes,blurred vision,eye itching,foreign body sensation,bad taste in mouth
For external use in eyes only; do not inject or swallow. Stop and seek medical advice if rash, swelling, severe eye pain, worsening redness/discharge, or vision changes occur. Use with caution in patients with known hypersensitivity to quinolones. Avoid wearing contact lenses during active infection unless advised by doctor. Prolonged use may lead to overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms.
No significant systemic interactions expected with ophthalmic use; avoid using other eye drops simultaneously without advice—keep a 5–10 minute gap between ophthalmic products. Concomitant topical antibiotics may alter effectiveness as per prescriber.
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from light. Do not freeze. Keep bottle tightly closed and discard as per label/within recommended period after opening.
