Ketoconazole 2% w/v (20 mg/mL) topical solution

Treatment of fungal infections of the skin/scalp such as dandruff (seborrhoeic dermatitis) and pityriasis versicolor; helps relieve scaling, itching and flaking caused by Malassezia fungi.

Ketoconazole is an imidazole antifungal that inhibits fungal ergosterol synthesis by blocking 14‑alpha demethylase. This damages the fungal cell membrane, stopping growth and leading to clearance of the infection.

For external use only. Apply to affected skin/scalp as directed by the physician; commonly used as a scalp application for dandruff/seborrhoeic dermatitis. Wet area if needed, apply sufficient amount, lather/spread, leave for a few minutes, then rinse off thoroughly. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth and broken skin; wash hands after use.

Burning or stinging at application site, itching, redness, dryness, irritation, scalp oiliness or dryness, hair texture changes, rash

External use only. Stop and consult a doctor if severe irritation, blistering, swelling or allergic reaction occurs. Avoid contact with eyes; if it occurs, rinse with plenty of water. Use with caution on inflamed/broken skin. If using topical corticosteroids on the scalp, do not stop steroids abruptly; taper as advised to avoid flare. Not for ingestion; keep out of reach of children.

No significant interactions expected with topical use; if used along with topical corticosteroids or other medicated scalp products, use only on medical advice to avoid irritation and to plan steroid tapering.

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from light and moisture. Keep the bottle tightly closed.
