Okamet 500 Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Taking metformin with alcohol can cause lactic acidosis and you may experience malaise, respiratory distress, slow or irregular heartbeat, sleepiness, stomach upset, or other unusual symptoms.
Okamet 500 Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Okamet 500 Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.<br/>Use of Okamet 500 Tablet is, however, not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease. Regular monitoring of kidney function test is advisable while you are taking this medicine.
Okamet 500 Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Okamet 500 Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.<br/>Okamet 500 Tablet is generally started with low dose in patients with mild to moderate liver disease and its use is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.

Decreases hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity; acts in liver and gut.
Take with meals, drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol consumption
GI upset (nausea, diarrhea); rare risk of lactic acidosis.
Inform clinician about kidney problems; withhold around iodinated contrast when advised.
Store below 25°C; protect from moisture.
