How does this medicine work?
Cefixime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial death. Clavulanic acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that protects cefixime from enzymatic breakdown by resistant bacteria, improving coverage against beta-lactamase producers.
How should I use this medicine?
Take orally as prescribed by the doctor, usually once daily or in divided doses depending on infection severity. May be taken with or without food (taking with food can reduce stomach upset). Swallow whole with water and complete the full antibiotic course.
