Before you take it
Consult doctor (domperidone use in pregnancy generally requires medical supervision)
Use with caution (alcohol can worsen acidity/GERD and may increase dizziness)
Monograph
Capsule
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), heartburn/acid reflux, gastritis and acid-peptic disorders, nausea/vomiting associated with acidity or delayed gastric emptying
Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that reduces stomach acid by irreversibly blocking the H+/K+ ATPase pump in gastric parietal cells. Domperidone is a dopamine (D2) receptor antagonist that increases gastric motility and helps relieve nausea/vomiting by enhancing gastric emptying.
Capsule; take as advised by doctor. Commonly taken once daily, 30 minutes before food (preferably before breakfast). Swallow whole; do not crush or chew (due to enteric-coated/ SR components).
Headache, diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, flatulence, dry mouth, dizziness
Use only on medical advice. Domperidone may increase risk of QT prolongation/serious arrhythmias—avoid in known QT prolongation, significant heart disease, or with electrolyte disturbances; seek help for palpitations/fainting. Caution in liver impairment; avoid domperidone in moderate to severe hepatic impairment. Long-term PPI use may be associated with low magnesium, vitamin B12 deficiency, bone fracture risk, and intestinal infections; use lowest effective dose. Consult doctor if alarm symptoms occur (blood in vomit/stool, unexplained weight loss, persistent vomiting, difficulty swallowing).
QT-prolonging drugs (e.g., amiodarone, sotalol, certain antipsychotics), macrolide antibiotics (erythromycin/clarithromycin), azole antifungals (ketoconazole/fluconazole), protease inhibitors, other strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (increase domperidone levels), warfarin (monitor), digoxin, methotrexate (high dose), drugs needing acidic pH for absorption (ketoconazole, itraconazole, iron salts)
Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep in original blister pack. Keep out of reach of children.
