Treatment of inflammatory and allergic conditions; autoimmune disorders (e.g., rheumatoid arthritis, lupus); skin diseases; asthma/COPD exacerbations; certain eye/ear inflammations; nephrotic syndrome; adjunct in some cancers as prescribed.

Prednisolone is a corticosteroid that suppresses the immune response and reduces inflammation. It decreases production of inflammatory mediators and reduces swelling, redness, itching and allergic symptoms.

Take exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Usually taken by mouth with food or after meals to reduce stomach upset, preferably in the morning. Swallow with water; do not stop suddenly—dose is tapered as advised.

Prescription-only steroid. Do not discontinue abruptly (risk of adrenal suppression). Use with caution in diabetes, hypertension, osteoporosis, peptic ulcer disease, glaucoma/cataract, thyroid disorders and liver disease. Increased risk of infections; avoid exposure to chickenpox/measles and avoid live vaccines during high-dose therapy. Long-term use may cause Cushingoid features, bone loss, muscle weakness and growth suppression in children; regular monitoring may be required.

NSAIDs/aspirin (GI bleed risk), anticoagulants like warfarin (INR changes), antidiabetics/insulin (may need dose adjustment), diuretics like furosemide (hypokalemia), digoxin (arrhythmia risk with low K+), rifampicin/phenytoin/carbamazepine (reduced steroid effect), ketoconazole/ritonavir (increased steroid levels), cyclosporine (increased toxicity), live vaccines (reduced response/infection risk)

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children.
