Neuropathic (nerve) pain such as diabetic peripheral neuropathy, post-herpetic neuralgia; may be used for other neuropathic pain conditions as prescribed

Pregabalin binds to the alpha-2-delta subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels in the central nervous system. This reduces release of excitatory neurotransmitters and decreases abnormal nerve signaling, thereby relieving neuropathic pain.

Oral sustained-release tablet: swallow whole with water; do not crush, chew or break. Take at the same time each day as directed by the doctor; preferably with/after food if stomach upset occurs. Dose adjustment may be needed in kidney disease; do not stop suddenly without medical advice.

Dizziness, sleepiness (somnolence), fatigue, blurred vision, dry mouth, peripheral edema (swelling), weight gain, constipation, difficulty concentrating

May cause dizziness and drowsiness—avoid driving or operating machinery until you know its effects. Do not stop abruptly (risk of withdrawal symptoms); taper as advised. Use with caution in kidney impairment (dose adjustment required). Can cause swelling of face/tongue/throat (angioedema) and allergic reactions—seek urgent care if it occurs. May increase risk of suicidal thoughts/behavior—monitor mood changes. Use caution in heart failure/edema-prone patients; may cause weight gain and fluid retention.

Alcohol and other CNS depressants (increased sedation), opioids (e.g., oxycodone, tramadol) and benzodiazepines (increased respiratory/CNS depression), antihistamines/sedatives (additive drowsiness), ACE inhibitors (increased risk of angioedema), antidiabetic thiazolidinediones like pioglitazone (may increase edema/weight gain)

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children.
