Monograph
Capsule
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), heartburn and acid reflux, gastritis/acid-peptic disorder, nausea and vomiting associated with reflux or dyspepsia
Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that blocks the gastric H+/K+ ATPase pump, reducing stomach acid production. Domperidone is a peripheral dopamine (D2) receptor antagonist that increases gastric motility and helps relieve nausea by enhancing gastric emptying.
Capsule to be taken as advised by doctor, usually once daily on an empty stomach (about 30 minutes before breakfast). Swallow whole; do not crush or chew (due to enteric-coated/SR components).
headache, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, flatulence, nausea, dry mouth, dizziness
Use with caution in liver impairment. Domperidone may increase risk of QT prolongation/serious heart rhythm problems—avoid in patients with known prolonged QT, significant cardiac disease, or with electrolyte disturbances. Seek medical help for palpitations, fainting, or severe dizziness. Long-term PPI use may be associated with low magnesium, vitamin B12 deficiency, fractures, and increased risk of GI infections; use the lowest effective dose. Consult doctor if alarm symptoms occur (vomiting blood, black stools, unexplained weight loss, persistent vomiting).
QT-prolonging medicines (e.g., amiodarone, sotalol, certain antipsychotics/antidepressants), strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole, erythromycin, clarithromycin, ritonavir) increase domperidone levels, other acid-reducing agents, digoxin, warfarin (monitor), medicines needing acidic pH for absorption (e.g., ketoconazole/itraconazole, atazanavir)
Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.
