Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium 1% w/v (lubricant eye drops)
Dry eye disease (keratoconjunctivitis sicca), eye irritation/burning due to dryness, temporary relief from discomfort due to environmental factors (wind, smoke, screen use), post‑operative or contact lens–related dryness (as advised)
Carboxymethylcellulose is a lubricant (artificial tears) that forms a protective, moisture-retaining film on the surface of the eye. It reduces friction, soothes irritation, and improves tear film stability to relieve dryness symptoms.
For ophthalmic use only. Instill 1 drop in the affected eye(s) as needed or as directed by a doctor. Wash hands before use; avoid touching the dropper tip. If using other eye medicines, keep a 5–10 minute gap. Remove contact lenses before use and reinsert after 15 minutes (if advised).
Temporary blurred vision, mild burning/stinging, eye irritation, redness, watery eyes, foreign body sensation
Do not use if seal is broken or solution changes color. Avoid contaminating the tip; do not share. Vision may blur briefly—avoid driving until clear. Stop use and consult a doctor if eye pain, persistent redness, discharge, or worsening symptoms occur, or if symptoms persist beyond 72 hours. Use with caution in eye infections or after eye surgery unless prescribed.
No clinically significant systemic interactions expected. If using other topical ophthalmic products (e.g., antibiotics, antiglaucoma drops), separate administration by 5–10 minutes.
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from light. Keep bottle tightly closed. Do not freeze. Discard as per pack instructions after opening (commonly within 30 days).
