Treatment of seizure disorders (epilepsy) including absence, myoclonic and akinetic seizures; adjunct therapy in Lennox-Gastaut syndrome; management of panic disorder/anxiety as prescribed.

Clonazepam is a benzodiazepine that enhances the effect of GABA, an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain. This reduces abnormal electrical activity, producing anticonvulsant and anxiolytic effects.

Oral tablet: take exactly as prescribed by the doctor, usually in divided doses. Can be taken with or without food; take at the same time each day. Do not stop suddenly; tapering is required. Avoid driving or operating machinery if drowsy.

Drowsiness, dizziness, fatigue, impaired coordination/ataxia, slowed thinking, memory problems, slurred speech, depression or mood changes, nausea

Prescription-only benzodiazepine. May cause sedation, impaired coordination and falls—use caution with driving. Risk of dependence, tolerance and withdrawal (including seizures) if stopped abruptly; taper under medical supervision. Use caution in elderly, liver disease, respiratory disorders (COPD/sleep apnea), depression/suicidal thoughts, history of substance misuse. Not recommended with opioids/alcohol due to risk of severe respiratory depression. Monitor for paradoxical agitation and worsening mood.

Alcohol and other CNS depressants (opioids, sedating antihistamines, antipsychotics) increase sedation/respiratory depression; Valproate may increase sedation; Enzyme inducers (carbamazepine, phenytoin, phenobarbital, rifampicin) may reduce effect; Strong CYP3A inhibitors (e.g., azole antifungals, macrolides) may increase levels; Grapefruit juice may increase sedation

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
