Probiotic used for prevention and treatment of diarrhoea (including acute infectious diarrhoea and antibiotic-associated diarrhoea), adjunct in traveller’s diarrhoea and restoration of gut flora during/after antibiotic therapy.

Saccharomyces boulardii is a probiotic yeast that helps restore normal intestinal microflora and suppresses growth/toxin effects of diarrhoea-causing pathogens. It supports intestinal barrier function and may reduce inflammation in the gut.

Take as directed by physician. Common adult use: 1 capsule 1–2 times daily. Can be taken with or without food; swallow with water. If taking with antibiotics, keep a gap of about 2 hours; avoid taking with hot beverages/alcohol as heat may reduce viability.

Bloating, flatulence, constipation, nausea, abdominal discomfort

Use with caution in immunocompromised patients (e.g., cancer chemotherapy, HIV, organ transplant) and in critically ill/ICU patients; rare cases of fungemia have been reported. Avoid use in patients with central venous catheter unless advised by a doctor. Stop and seek medical help if rash, breathing difficulty, high fever, or worsening diarrhoea/dehydration occurs. Not a substitute for rehydration therapy in acute diarrhoea.

Antifungal medicines (e.g., fluconazole, itraconazole, amphotericin B, nystatin) may reduce/neutralize probiotic effect; antibiotics—generally compatible but separate dosing by ~2 hours; immunosuppressants—use only on medical advice.

Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture and direct light. Keep below 25°C (or as per pack label). Keep out of reach of children.
