Permethrin 5% w/w (medicated soap)

Treatment of scabies (Sarcoptes scabiei infestation); helps relieve associated itching and skin irritation.

Permethrin is a synthetic pyrethroid that kills scabies mites by disrupting their nerve cell membrane sodium channels, leading to paralysis and death. It reduces the mite burden on the skin, helping symptoms resolve.

For external use only. Wet skin and apply lather over the body (avoid eyes, mouth, inside nose, and genital mucosa), leave on briefly as advised on pack/doctor, then rinse thoroughly. Use as directed by physician; treat close contacts if advised and maintain hygiene (wash clothes/bedding).

Mild burning or stinging, itching, redness, dryness, tingling/numbness, rash

External use only. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth and mucous membranes; rinse with water if contact occurs. Do not use on severely inflamed/broken skin unless advised by a doctor. Stop use and seek medical advice if severe irritation/allergy occurs. Use with caution in infants/young children and in people with known hypersensitivity to pyrethroids/permethrin. Persistent itching can occur after treatment and may not mean treatment failure.

No significant systemic drug interactions expected with topical permethrin; avoid concurrent use with other harsh topical irritants/medicated soaps that may increase skin irritation.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. Do not freeze.
