Sebowash Shampoo 125 ml is a prescription medicine containing Fluocinolone acetonide (0.01% w/v). It is used for helps manage dandruff, seborrhoeic dermatitis of the scalp (flaking, itching, redness) and controls associated scalp fungal overgrowth. It belongs to the group of medicines called Topical antifungal/keratolytic (exact actives unknown).
For external use only. The dose and how long you take it depend on what you are being treated for and how you respond. Do not take more, or for longer, than your doctor has advised.
The side effects seen most often with Sebowash Shampoo 125 ml are mild burning or stinging, itching, dryness and irritation. Most are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. Tell your doctor if one persists or worries you.
Before you start, tell your doctor about any liver, kidney or heart problem, whether you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, and every other medicine you take, including supplements and ayurvedic preparations. Some of them can change how Sebowash Shampoo 125 ml works.
Most side effects of Sebowash Shampoo are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:
Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
For external use only. Wet hair and scalp, apply sufficient shampoo, massage into scalp and leave for 3–5 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. Use 2–3 times a week or as directed by a doctor; avoid contact with eyes.
Anti-dandruff shampoos typically reduce the growth of Malassezia yeast and decrease scalp inflammation and scaling. Regular use helps loosen and remove flakes and relieves itching.
Stop use and consult a doctor if severe irritation, rash, swelling, or worsening occurs. Avoid use on broken/abraded skin and avoid eye contact; rinse with plenty of water if it gets into eyes. Use with caution in very sensitive scalp or if allergic to anti-dandruff ingredients; perform a patch test if prone to allergies. Keep out of reach of children.
If you miss a dose of Sebowash Shampoo, use it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Do not apply extra to make up for a missed dose.
An overdose of this medicine can suppress the body's own steroid production when it is used for a long time over large areas, especially in children. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.
No clinically significant drug interactions expected with topical shampoo use; avoid using multiple medicated scalp products together unless advised (may increase irritation).
Store at room temperature (below 25°C), tightly closed, protected from heat and direct sunlight. Do not freeze.
