Sitabite 50 Tablet

Sitabite 50 Tablet contains Sitagliptin (50mg). Prescription required.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus—used to improve blood sugar control along with diet and exercise; may be used alone or with other antidiabetic medicines (e.g., metformin, sulfonylureas, insulin) as prescribed.

Sitagliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor. It increases levels of incretin hormones (GLP-1, GIP), which enhance glucose-dependent insulin release and reduce glucagon secretion, thereby lowering blood glucose with a low risk of hypoglycaemia when used alone.

Take by mouth as directed by your doctor, usually once daily, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water at the same time each day. Dose adjustment is required in kidney disease; do not stop or change dose without medical advice.

Headache, nasopharyngitis (common cold), upper respiratory tract infection, nausea, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, dizziness, hypoglycaemia (especially with sulfonylurea/insulin)

Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Use with caution and dose-adjust in renal impairment; monitor kidney function. Seek urgent care for severe abdominal pain (possible pancreatitis) or signs of allergic reaction/angioedema; severe joint pain has been reported with DPP-4 inhibitors. If used with insulin or sulfonylureas, risk of low blood sugar increases—dose reduction of the other agent may be needed. Monitor for symptoms of heart failure in at-risk patients.

Insulin, sulfonylureas (increased risk of hypoglycaemia), digoxin (may increase digoxin levels—monitor if used together).

Store at room temperature (below 25°C), in a dry place away from moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
