Type 2 diabetes mellitus: to improve glycaemic control as an adjunct to diet and exercise, alone or in combination with other antidiabetic medicines as prescribed
Headache, nasopharyngitis, upper respiratory tract infection, nausea, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort
Sitagliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor that increases levels of incretin hormones (GLP-1 and GIP). This enhances glucose-dependent insulin release and reduces glucagon secretion, helping lower blood sugar with a low risk of hypoglycaemia when used alone.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus: to improve glycaemic control as an adjunct to diet and exercise, alone or in combination with other antidiabetic medicines as prescribed
Sitagliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor that increases levels of incretin hormones (GLP-1 and GIP). This enhances glucose-dependent insulin release and reduces glucagon secretion, helping lower blood sugar with a low risk of hypoglycaemia when used alone.
Tablet for oral use. Take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily, with or without food, at the same time each day. Dose adjustment may be needed in kidney disease; do not stop or change dose without medical advice.
Headache, nasopharyngitis, upper respiratory tract infection, nausea, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort
Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Use with caution in kidney impairment (dose adjustment required); periodic renal function monitoring may be advised. Rare but serious: pancreatitis (seek care for severe persistent abdominal pain), severe joint pain, hypersensitivity reactions (rash, facial swelling, breathing difficulty), bullous pemphigoid. Risk of low blood sugar increases when combined with insulin or sulfonylureas. Inform doctor if you have a history of pancreatitis.
Insulin, sulfonylureas (e.g., glimepiride, gliclazide) may increase hypoglycaemia risk; digoxin (may increase digoxin levels—monitor); other antidiabetic agents as per physician; alcohol may worsen glycaemic control
