Parkinson’s disease (as monotherapy or adjunct to levodopa) to help control symptoms such as tremor, rigidity and slowness of movement; may also be used for certain circulatory/vascular disorders as per physician advice

Piribedil is a dopamine agonist that stimulates dopamine receptors in the brain, helping improve motor control in Parkinson’s disease. It also has alpha-2 adrenergic antagonist activity, which may contribute to improved blood flow and symptom relief in some patients.

Take as prescribed by the doctor. Swallow the long-acting tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew. Usually taken with or after food to reduce nausea; take at the same time each day.

Use with caution in elderly patients and those with heart disease, low blood pressure, psychiatric illness (hallucinations/psychosis), or history of impulse-control disorders. May cause sudden sleep episodes; avoid driving/operating machinery if drowsy. Hallucinations and confusion can occur, especially when used with levodopa. Do not stop suddenly without medical advice (risk of symptom worsening).

Levodopa and other dopaminergic drugs (additive effects/hallucinations), antipsychotics (may reduce effect of piribedil), antihypertensives (increased risk of low BP), sedatives/alcohol (increased drowsiness), antiemetics with dopamine antagonist action such as metoclopramide/prochlorperazine (may reduce effect)

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.
