Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), heartburn/acid reflux, gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, dyspepsia with nausea/vomiting associated with acidity
Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that reduces stomach acid by blocking the gastric H+/K+ ATPase. Domperidone is a prokinetic/antiemetic that increases gastric motility and helps prevent nausea and reflux by blocking dopamine (D2) receptors peripherally.
Take 1 capsule as prescribed, usually once daily 15–30 minutes before food (preferably before breakfast). Swallow whole; do not crush or chew. Use for the duration advised by the doctor.
Headache, diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, dry mouth, dizziness, constipation, flatulence
Not for self-medication for long durations. Seek medical advice if symptoms persist, bleeding/black stools, unexplained weight loss, or trouble swallowing. Use with caution in liver disease; avoid/use with caution in severe kidney impairment as advised. Domperidone may cause QT prolongation/serious heart rhythm problems—avoid in patients with known prolonged QT, significant heart disease, or electrolyte disturbances; do not exceed prescribed dose. Long-term PPI use may be associated with low magnesium/B12, fractures, and increased infection risk. May mask symptoms of gastric malignancy—evaluate if alarm features present.
QT-prolonging drugs (e.g., amiodarone, sotalol, some antipsychotics), strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole/itraconazole, erythromycin/clarithromycin, ritonavir) increase domperidone risk; digoxin levels may change; rabeprazole may reduce absorption of drugs needing acidic pH (e.g., ketoconazole, atazanavir) and can interact with warfarin (monitor INR) and high-dose methotrexate; antacids may be used but separate if advised
