Treatment of acid-related disorders such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), heartburn, erosive esophagitis, peptic/duodenal ulcers, gastritis; also used for prevention of NSAID-induced ulcers and in H. pylori eradication regimens with antibiotics (as prescribed).

Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that irreversibly blocks the gastric H+/K+ ATPase (proton pump) in stomach parietal cells. This reduces gastric acid secretion and helps heal acid-related injury to the stomach and esophagus.

Tablet: take as directed by doctor, usually once daily 30–60 minutes before food (preferably before breakfast). Swallow whole with water; do not crush or chew. Duration depends on condition.

Headache, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, flatulence, constipation, dizziness

Use with caution in severe liver disease. Long-term use may increase risk of low magnesium, vitamin B12 deficiency, bone fractures, and gastrointestinal infections (e.g., C. difficile). Seek medical advice if you have alarm symptoms (unintentional weight loss, persistent vomiting, swallowing difficulty, blood in stools/vomit). May cause false-positive results in some tests (e.g., chromogranin A).

Warfarin (INR changes), methotrexate (high-dose), digoxin (via low magnesium), diuretics (risk of hypomagnesemia), drugs needing acidic pH for absorption (ketoconazole/itraconazole/posaconazole, atazanavir/nelfinavir, erlotinib), clopidogrel (possible reduced activation—clinical relevance lower than omeprazole but use per doctor)

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep in original blister and out of reach of children.
