Treatment and prevention of vitamin D deficiency, adjunct in osteoporosis/osteopenia management, support in calcium deficiency and bone health
Cholecalciferol is converted in the body to active vitamin D, which increases intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphorus. It helps maintain normal bone mineralization and supports muscle function.
Take orally as directed by physician. Usually 1 capsule once daily; swallow whole with water, preferably after food or with a meal containing fat for better absorption. Do not exceed recommended dose.
Nausea, vomiting, constipation, stomach upset, loss of appetite, headache, increased thirst, increased urination
Use with caution in hypercalcemia, hypervitaminosis D, kidney stones, severe renal impairment, sarcoidosis or other granulomatous diseases. Monitor calcium levels if taking high doses or long-term. Seek medical advice if symptoms of high calcium occur (weakness, confusion, excessive thirst/urination).
Thiazide diuretics (risk of hypercalcemia), digoxin/cardiac glycosides (arrhythmia risk with high calcium), anticonvulsants like phenytoin/phenobarbital and rifampicin (reduced vitamin D effect), corticosteroids (reduced absorption/effect), cholestyramine/orlistat (reduced absorption), calcium supplements (additive hypercalcemia risk)
