Treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) such as weak urine stream, hesitancy, incomplete bladder emptying, urinary frequency and urgency.
Tamsulosin is a selective alpha-1A adrenergic receptor blocker that relaxes smooth muscles in the prostate and bladder neck. This reduces urethral resistance and improves urine flow, relieving BPH symptoms.
Take by mouth as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day. Swallow the capsule whole; do not crush, chew, or open. Preferably take after the same meal each day to reduce side effects and improve consistency.
