Type 2 diabetes mellitus; helps control post-meal (postprandial) and fasting blood glucose when diet and exercise alone are insufficient.
Flatulence, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, metallic taste, headache, dizziness, low blood sugar (when used with other antidiabetics), vitamin B12 deficiency (long-term), weakness

Type 2 diabetes mellitus; helps control post-meal (postprandial) and fasting blood glucose when diet and exercise alone are insufficient.
Voglibose is an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor that slows carbohydrate digestion and glucose absorption in the intestine, reducing post-meal sugar spikes. Metformin decreases glucose production in the liver and improves insulin sensitivity, helping the body use glucose more effectively.
Oral tablets; take exactly as prescribed. Voglibose-containing combinations are usually taken with the first bite of meals to reduce post-meal glucose rise; metformin is generally taken with food to reduce stomach upset. Swallow with water; do not crush unless advised.
Flatulence, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, metallic taste, headache, dizziness, low blood sugar (when used with other antidiabetics), vitamin B12 deficiency (long-term), weakness
Use only for type 2 diabetes. Risk of hypoglycaemia increases if used with insulin or sulfonylureas—monitor glucose and carry fast-acting sugar. Metformin may rarely cause lactic acidosis; risk increases with kidney impairment, dehydration, severe infection, alcohol use, liver disease, heart/respiratory failure—seek urgent care for rapid breathing, severe weakness, drowsiness, abdominal pain. Avoid/use with caution in renal impairment; check eGFR before and during therapy. Temporarily stop metformin during severe illness causing dehydration and before/after iodinated contrast procedures as advised. Voglibose may cause GI discomfort; avoid in inflammatory bowel disease, intestinal obstruction or malabsorption. Monitor HbA1c, renal function and vitamin B12 periodically.
Alcohol (increases lactic acidosis risk), iodinated contrast media (increase renal risk—hold metformin as advised), carbonic anhydrase inhibitors (e.g., topiramate, acetazolamide—may increase acidosis risk), cimetidine (may increase metformin levels), drugs affecting renal function (NSAIDs, ACE inhibitors/ARBs, diuretics), insulin/sulfonylureas (increased hypoglycaemia risk), corticosteroids and thiazide diuretics (may raise glucose), beta-blockers (may mask hypoglycaemia symptoms)
