Type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults when diet and exercise alone are not enough; used to improve blood glucose control (fasting and post‑meal) under medical supervision.
How It Works
Voglibose delays intestinal carbohydrate absorption by inhibiting alpha‑glucosidase, reducing post‑meal glucose spikes. Metformin decreases hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity. Glimepiride increases insulin release from the pancreas, helping lower blood glucose.
Directions for Use
Take by mouth exactly as prescribed. Typically taken once daily with the first main meal; swallow whole (do not crush/chew due to SR metformin). Voglibose component works best when taken just before or with meals; follow your doctor’s timing instructions. Monitor blood sugar regularly.
Side Effects
Hypoglycaemia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, flatulence, loss of appetite, headache, dizziness, metallic taste
Warnings & Precautions
Risk of hypoglycaemia (higher with missed meals, alcohol, strenuous exercise, or with other antidiabetics); carry glucose. Metformin may rarely cause lactic acidosis—seek urgent care for rapid breathing, severe weakness, abdominal pain, hypothermia; risk increases with kidney/liver impairment, dehydration, severe infection, heart failure, or alcohol excess. Avoid in severe renal impairment; dose adjustment/monitoring needed in reduced kidney function. Stop temporarily before/after iodinated contrast imaging and during major surgery or acute illness as advised. Use caution in elderly, malnourished, and in G6PD deficiency (risk of haemolysis with sulfonylureas).
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place; protect from moisture and light; keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.
