Treatment of acid-peptic disorders such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis, gastritis and peptic (gastric/duodenal) ulcer; acid suppression where rapid and sustained control of acidity is required (as prescribed).

Vonoprazan is a potassium-competitive acid blocker (P-CAB) that directly inhibits the gastric H+/K+ ATPase (proton pump) in a reversible, potassium-competitive manner. It provides strong and sustained suppression of stomach acid secretion.

Take the tablet whole with water, preferably at the same time each day. It can be taken with or without food. Dose and duration are as directed by the doctor; do not crush/chew unless advised.

Headache, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, abdominal pain, flatulence, dizziness, increased liver enzymes

Use with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Long-term acid suppression may increase risk of vitamin B12 deficiency, hypomagnesemia and gastrointestinal infections; use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration. Seek medical advice if alarm symptoms occur (unexplained weight loss, persistent vomiting, black stools, difficulty swallowing). Not intended for immediate relief of acute heartburn unless advised.

May reduce absorption/effect of medicines requiring an acidic gastric pH (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole, erlotinib, iron salts). Caution with high-dose methotrexate (possible increased levels). Inform doctor about all medicines including antiplatelets/anticoagulants and antivirals.

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
