Tablet
Treatment of Ménière’s disease and vestibular vertigo; helps reduce episodes of dizziness/vertigo, tinnitus (ringing in ears), nausea/vomiting and hearing fluctuation associated with inner-ear disorders.
Betahistine is a histamine analogue (H1 agonist and H3 antagonist) that improves microcirculation in the inner ear. It reduces endolymphatic pressure and enhances vestibular compensation, thereby decreasing vertigo symptoms.
Oral tablet. Take exactly as prescribed by the doctor, preferably with food to reduce gastric irritation. Commonly taken in divided doses (e.g., 1 tablet 2–3 times daily); do not exceed the prescribed dose and continue regularly for best effect.
Headache, nausea, indigestion/dyspepsia, stomach pain, bloating, vomiting, rash, itching
Use with caution in patients with bronchial asthma, peptic ulcer disease/history of ulcers, or severe hypotension. Stop and seek medical help if allergic reactions (swelling, rash, breathing difficulty) occur. Not recommended for children unless prescribed. If vertigo persists/worsens or is associated with severe headache, weakness, speech/vision changes, seek urgent medical evaluation.
Antihistamines (may reduce effect of betahistine), MAO inhibitors including selegiline/rasagiline (may increase betahistine levels), alcohol (may worsen dizziness)
Store at room temperature (below 25°C), protected from moisture and direct light. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.
