Treatment of diabetes mellitus to control high blood sugar in type 1 diabetes and in type 2 diabetes when insulin is required; may be used in combination with other antidiabetic medicines as advised

Regular human insulin replaces/supplements the body’s insulin. It helps glucose enter muscle and fat cells and reduces glucose production by the liver, thereby lowering blood sugar levels.

For subcutaneous injection using a compatible insulin pen/syringe as prescribed. Usually injected 30 minutes before meals; dose and timing depend on blood glucose, diet and activity. Rotate injection sites (abdomen, thigh, upper arm) and do not inject into areas that are red, swollen or scarred. Do not share cartridges/pens; use only if solution is clear and colorless unless advised otherwise.

Hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar),sweating,shaking,dizziness,headache,palpitations,nausea,injection site pain/redness/swelling,lipodystrophy (lumps or pitting at injection site),weight gain,allergic reactions (rare)

Risk of hypoglycaemia—carry fast-acting sugar and monitor glucose regularly. Dose adjustments may be needed with changes in meals, exercise, illness, stress, kidney or liver disease. Do not use during episodes of hypoglycaemia. Seek urgent care for severe allergy (rash, swelling, breathing difficulty). Use with caution when driving/operating machinery due to risk of low sugar. Cartridge strength is concentrated (200 IU/mL); use only with appropriate pen/device and follow prescribed dose carefully to avoid dosing errors.

Other antidiabetics (sulfonylureas, GLP-1 agonists) may increase hypoglycaemia risk; beta-blockers may mask hypoglycaemia symptoms; corticosteroids, thiazide diuretics, thyroid hormones and sympathomimetics may raise blood glucose (need higher insulin); ACE inhibitors may increase insulin sensitivity; alcohol may cause delayed hypoglycaemia; MAO inhibitors/salicylates can enhance hypoglycaemia

Store refrigerated at 2–8°C; do not freeze. Keep away from heat and direct light; keep in original carton. Once in use, follow label guidance; generally keep below 25–30°C and use within the recommended in-use period; discard if frozen, exposed to excessive heat, or if solution becomes cloudy/colored.
