Ketoconazole (2% w/w)

Treatment and control of dandruff (pityriasis capitis) and seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp; helps in fungal-associated scalp scaling and itching.

Ketoconazole is an imidazole antifungal that inhibits fungal ergosterol synthesis, damaging the fungal cell membrane. This reduces Malassezia growth on the scalp and relieves flaking, itching and inflammation associated with dandruff/seborrheic dermatitis.

For external use on scalp. Wet hair/scalp, apply sufficient quantity, lather and leave on for about 3–5 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. Common use is 2 times a week for 2–4 weeks, then once weekly or as advised. Avoid contact with eyes; rinse with water if it occurs.

For external use only. Do not use on broken/oozing skin unless advised by a doctor. Stop use and seek medical advice if severe irritation, swelling, blistering or allergy occurs. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth and mucous membranes. Use with caution in children; use during pregnancy/breastfeeding should be on medical advice, especially over prolonged periods.

No significant interactions expected with topical scalp use. If using other medicated scalp products (e.g., topical steroids, salicylic acid, coal tar), use as directed by a clinician to avoid additive irritation.

Store at room temperature (below 25–30°C). Keep tightly closed. Protect from direct sunlight and excessive heat. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
