Monograph
Minoxidil (5% w/v) + Finasteride (0.1% w/v)
Treatment of androgenetic alopecia (pattern hair loss) in men; helps reduce hair fall and promote hair regrowth on the scalp.
Minoxidil is a peripheral vasodilator that, when applied to the scalp, prolongs the anagen (growth) phase and increases hair follicle size. It improves blood flow and follicular activity, helping stimulate regrowth in pattern hair loss.
For external use only. Apply 1 mL (or as directed) to clean, dry scalp over the affected area, usually twice daily. Spread gently and allow to dry completely; wash hands after application. Do not apply on broken/irritated skin; avoid shampooing for at least 4 hours after use.
Scalp itching,scalp irritation/redness,burning sensation,dryness/flaking (dandruff),headache,unwanted facial/body hair growth (hypertrichosis),initial increased hair shedding,dizziness,fast heartbeat
Not for use on damaged, inflamed or infected scalp. Stop and consult a doctor if chest pain, rapid heartbeat, fainting, dizziness, swelling of hands/feet, sudden unexplained weight gain, or severe scalp irritation occurs. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth and mucous membranes; flammable—keep away from fire/heat until dry. Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease or low blood pressure. Not recommended for children; use in women only if prescribed.
Other topical scalp medicines (e.g., retinoids, potent corticosteroids) may increase absorption/irritation; antihypertensives/vasodilators may increase risk of low blood pressure if significant absorption occurs; guanethidine may cause marked hypotension (rare with topical use).
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep bottle tightly closed and out of reach of children. Keep away from heat/flame.
