Injection

Treatment of susceptible bacterial infections such as lower/upper respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, intra-abdominal infections, gynecological infections, bone and joint infections, septicemia, and meningitis (as per physician).

Ceftriaxone is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis leading to bacterial death. Sulbactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that protects ceftriaxone from degradation by beta-lactamase enzymes, helping extend activity against resistant organisms.

For intravenous or intramuscular use only. Dose and duration depend on infection severity and renal/hepatic function; administer as prescribed by a doctor. Reconstitute and dilute only with recommended diluents and give at recommended infusion rate; do not self-inject.

Injection site pain/swelling, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, rash, headache, dizziness, elevated liver enzymes, eosinophilia

Prescription-only antibiotic; use only for confirmed/suspected bacterial infections. Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to cephalosporins; use caution in penicillin allergy. Monitor for severe diarrhea/C. difficile colitis, superinfection, and hypersensitivity reactions. Use caution in severe hepatic/renal impairment; dose adjustment/monitoring may be needed. Ceftriaxone should not be mixed with calcium-containing IV solutions; avoid concurrent calcium IV administration in neonates. Prolonged use may cause altered blood counts; monitor if therapy is extended.

Calcium-containing IV solutions (incompatibility/precipitation risk), warfarin/other anticoagulants (may increase bleeding risk via altered vitamin K flora), aminoglycosides/loop diuretics (potential additive nephrotoxicity—monitor), oral contraceptives (reduced efficacy possible due to gut flora alteration)

Store in a cool, dry place below 25°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep vial in original pack. Use reconstituted solution within the time limits specified on labeling; do not freeze unless directed in product insert.
