Clinical significance
Rising antibody titres (especially on paired samples a week apart) support a diagnosis of typhoid. A single high titre in the right clinical setting is suggestive, but the test can give false positives (past infection, vaccination) and false negatives early on, so it is interpreted with symptoms and, where possible, blood culture.

Low titre: < 1:80 usually not significant
