A substitute contains the same active ingredient (salt), in the same strength, as Alphacept-D8 Tablet. The medicine inside is the same — the brand name, manufacturer and price are what differ.
All medicines sold in India, branded or generic, must meet the quality standards set by the national drug regulator (CDSCO). A lower price does not mean lower quality.
Please confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands — they will check that the strength and form match your prescription.
Alphacept-D8 Tablet contains Silodosin (8mg) + Dutasteride (0.5mg). It belongs to the Prescription-only medicine and Hair growth stimulant / anti-dandruff agent class of medicines.
This medicine combines 2 active ingredients: Silodosin and Dutasteride. Silodosin acts on the condition your doctor has prescribed it for. Dutasteride acts on the scalp and hair follicles to slow hair loss and control flaking.
Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not chew, crush or break it unless your doctor has told you to. Take it with or after food. Taking it at about the same time each day helps you remember. Follow the dose and the duration written on your prescription.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.
An overdose of this medicine may be harmful — seek medical advice immediately. It can cause a fall in blood pressure and a racing heart when far too much is applied to the skin. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.
Most side effects of Alphacept-D8 are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
| Pregnancy | Not recommended in pregnancy — it may harm the developing baby. Tell your doctor at once if you are or might be pregnant. |
|---|---|
| Breastfeeding | Consult your doctor before using this while breastfeeding. |
| Alcohol | Alcohol may worsen the side effects of this medicine. Limit it. |
| Driving | May cause drowsiness or affect your concentration. Do not drive until you know how it affects you. |
| Kidney | Use with caution if you have kidney disease — your doctor may adjust the dose or monitor your kidney function. |
| Liver | Use with caution if you have liver disease — your doctor may adjust the dose or monitor your liver function. |
| Habit forming | No |
This is a prescription-only medicine. Take it exactly as your doctor has directed, for the period directed. Do not share it with anyone else, even if their symptoms seem the same. Tell your doctor about every other medicine, supplement and herbal product you take. Report any unexpected or severe symptom to your doctor rather than stopping on your own. Topical minoxidil causes a burst of shedding in the first two to eight weeks. This is the old hair making way for new — it is expected, not a failure. Results take three to six months, and stop when you stop. This is a continuing treatment, not a cure. Finasteride must not be handled or taken by anyone who is pregnant or could become pregnant — it causes birth defects. Do not let a pregnant person handle broken or crushed tablets. Apply topical treatments to a dry scalp, not to hair, and wash your hands afterwards. Tell your doctor about any chest pain, dizziness, rapid heartbeat or sudden weight gain with minoxidil.
Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Your doctor will confirm this medicine is suitable for you. Not for use on inflamed, broken or sunburnt scalp.
Give your doctor and pharmacist a full list of everything you take. Avoid applying other scalp products at the same time of day unless advised.
Store at room temperature (below 25°C), protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Take it at the same time each day and complete the course. Keep your follow-up appointments and any monitoring blood tests. Be consistent — irregular use gives no result. Have persistent or patchy hair loss assessed; thyroid disease, iron deficiency and other causes are treatable.
