Amisant OD 400 Tablet contains Amisulpride (400mg). It belongs to the Atypical antipsychotic (benzamide; dopamine D2/D3 receptor antagonist) class of medicines.

How Amisant OD 400 Tablet works

Amisulpride is an atypical antipsychotic that blocks dopamine D2/D3 receptors. At higher doses it reduces dopaminergic overactivity responsible for psychotic symptoms, helping improve thought disturbances, hallucinations and delusions.

How to take Amisant OD 400 Tablet

Take by mouth exactly as prescribed, usually once daily (OD). Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew. Can be taken with or without food; take at the same time each day and do not stop suddenly without medical advice.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Amisant OD 400mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause deep drowsiness, a severe fall in blood pressure, abnormal movements and heart rhythm disturbance. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Can cause neuroleptic malignant syndrome (fever, rigidity, confusion)—seek urgent care. May cause tardive dyskinesia and extrapyramidal symptoms. Use caution in elderly (especially dementia-related psychosis), liver/kidney impairment (dose adjustment in renal impairment), and seizure disorders. Do not take Amisant OD if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Your doctor will assess suitability if you have heart disease, Parkinson's disease or dementia.

Interactions with other medicines

Alcohol and other CNS depressants (increased sedation), QT-prolonging medicines (e.g., amiodarone, sotalol, quinidine, certain antibiotics like macrolides/fluoroquinolones, certain antifungals, tricyclics), other antipsychotics, levodopa/dopamine agonists (antagonistic effect), antihypertensives (additive hypotension), medicines causing low potassium/magnesium (e.g., diuretics) increasing QT risk, strong CYP interactions are less prominent but clinical monitoring advised.

How to store Amisant OD 400 Tablet

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from moisture and direct light. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.

Eat healthy and exercise regularly. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive or breastfeeding. Do not stop taking Amisant OD 400mg Tablet without talking to your doctor first as it may cause worsening of symptoms.
