Amisulpride 400 mg (extended-release/OD) tablet
Treatment of schizophrenia and related psychotic disorders (positive and negative symptoms); may also be used for acute psychosis and maintenance therapy as prescribed.
Amisulpride is an atypical antipsychotic that blocks dopamine D2/D3 receptors. At higher doses it reduces dopaminergic overactivity responsible for psychotic symptoms, helping improve thought disturbances, hallucinations and delusions.
Take by mouth exactly as prescribed, usually once daily (OD). Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew. Can be taken with or without food; take at the same time each day and do not stop suddenly without medical advice.
Common side effects of AMISANT OD 400 TAB may include:
Prescription-only antipsychotic. May cause drowsiness—avoid driving/operating machinery until you know the effect. Risk of QT prolongation/arrhythmias; use caution in heart disease, electrolyte imbalance, bradycardia, or with other QT-prolonging drugs. Can cause neuroleptic malignant syndrome (fever, rigidity, confusion)—seek urgent care. May cause tardive dyskinesia and extrapyramidal symptoms. Increases prolactin; caution in breast cancer or prolactin-dependent tumors. Use caution in elderly (especially dementia-related psychosis), liver/kidney impairment (dose adjustment in renal impairment), and seizure disorders. Monitor weight, glucose/lipids where appropriate.
