Azithromycin 250 mg (as Azithromycin dihydrate) per tablet
Treatment of susceptible bacterial infections such as upper and lower respiratory tract infections (pharyngitis/tonsillitis, sinusitis, bronchitis, pneumonia), ear infections (otitis media), skin and soft tissue infections; also used for certain sexually transmitted infections as prescribed.
Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. This stops growth of susceptible bacteria and helps clear the infection.
Take by mouth exactly as prescribed. Usually taken once daily; can be taken with or without food (take with food if stomach upset occurs). Swallow whole with water and complete the full course even if you feel better.
Common side effects of Aztra 250 Tab may include:

A substitute contains the same active ingredient (salt), in the same strength, as Aztra 250 Tab. The medicine inside is the same — the brand name, manufacturer and price are what differ.
All medicines sold in India, branded or generic, must meet the quality standards set by the national drug regulator (CDSCO). A lower price does not mean lower quality.
Please confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands — they will check that the strength and form match your prescription.
Use only for bacterial infections (not viral). Complete the course to reduce resistance. Use with caution in liver disease, history of jaundice/hepatitis with azithromycin, myasthenia gravis, and in patients with heart rhythm problems (QT prolongation), low potassium/magnesium, or on QT-prolonging drugs. Seek urgent care for severe allergy (swelling, breathing difficulty), severe/persistent diarrhoea (possible C. difficile), or signs of liver injury (yellowing eyes/skin, dark urine).
