Azusic-250 mg Tablet contains Azithromycin 250 mg. It belongs to the Macrolide antibiotic class of medicines.

Uses of Azusic-250 mg Tablet

• Treatment of susceptible bacterial infections such as upper and lower respiratory tract infections (sinusitis

• bronchitis
• pneumonia)
• ear infections (otitis media)
• skin and soft tissue infections
• and certain sexually transmitted infections (e.g.
• uncomplicated chlamydial infection) as prescribed.

How Azusic-250 mg Tablet works

Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. This stops growth and multiplication of susceptible bacteria and helps clear the infection.

How to take Azusic-250 mg Tablet

Tablet to be taken exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Usually taken once daily; may be taken with or without food (take with food if stomach upset occurs). Swallow whole with water and complete the full course; avoid taking aluminium/magnesium antacids within 2 hours of the dose.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause vomiting, hearing disturbance and heart rhythm changes. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Azusic-250 mg Tablet

Most side effects of Azusic-250 mg are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• indigestion

• dizziness
• rash

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Use only for bacterial infections (not viral). Complete the prescribed course. Use with caution in liver disease, history of jaundice with azithromycin/macrolides, myasthenia gravis, and in patients with risk of QT prolongation/arrhythmias (existing QT prolongation, low potassium/magnesium, slow heart rate, use of QT-prolonging drugs). Seek urgent care for severe allergic reaction, severe diarrhoea (possible C. difficile), or signs of liver injury (yellowing of eyes/skin, dark urine).

Do not take Azusic-250 mg if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for anyone with a known allergy to macrolide antibiotics, or with certain heart rhythm disorders.

Interactions with other medicines

Antacids containing aluminium/magnesium (reduce absorption), warfarin and other anticoagulants (may increase bleeding risk/INR), digoxin (may increase levels), ciclosporin (may increase levels), statins (rare risk of muscle toxicity), other QT-prolonging medicines (e.g., amiodarone, sotalol, certain antipsychotics/fluoroquinolones), nelfinavir (may increase azithromycin levels).

How to store Azusic-250 mg Tablet

Store below 25°C, in a cool dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

Expert advice for Azusic-250 mg Tablet

Take it at the same time each day and complete the course. Taking it with food reduces nausea unless the pack says to take it on an empty stomach.
